The Brunch Club

So originally, this was supposed to be “A Year of Brunches” post, where my girlfriends and I would try a new restaurant each month so that we could all see each other and catch up on life/love/and everything in between a la Sex And The City.  Great idea, right? We thought so, too. But life happens and people are busy and monthly brunches can all of a sudden feel pretty ambitious.
That being said, we made five monthly brunches happen last year (Yes 2017!!), and had a WONDERFUL time! I’m looking forward to more dates with my ladies this year.

JANUARY: The Wren

Located in NoHo, this little gem has a rustic chic interior complete with creaky wooden floors, romantic string lights, and a very relaxing vibe. The avocado toast was to die for, and you definitely have to get the Bourbon Churros to share. We happened to go on a super snowy day so the Hot Mulled Cider was the perfect brunch cocktail to warm me up.

FEBRUARY: Cafeteria

This was a fun spot in Chelsea with bright white open space, garage door style windows, and the best part was the Nutella sticky bread!!! YOU HAVE TO GET IT.  The Avocado toast was underwhelming, but everything else was yummy. Fun fact: This place is open 24 hours a day.

MARCH: The Banc Cafe

After failing to get a table at Penelope (2 hour wait!!!) we wandered around Kips Bay and stumbled across The Banc Cafe, a fab breakfast spot with swanky lighting, black and white tiles, and a really cool lounge atmosphere. We had a really wonderful time here and the food was delicious.

APRIL: Easter Picnic in Central Park

Another small hiccup happened when we failed to make brunch reservations for Easter Sunday (we just totally forgot it was Easter Weekend) , so we decided to go enjoy a perfect sunny day in Central Park! First stop, Whole Foods at Columbus Circle to grab ALL of the essentials, as seen below in our heaping pile of leftovers. Look how cute my ladies are!!!!

Fast forward to….

SEPTEMBER: Maison Harlem

After months of no brunch club, we were finally all reunited in the city and picked our next spot, Maison Harlem! On the corner of 127th & St. Nicholas, this cute little french spot is not only easy to get to for my fellow uptowners, but the food was amazing and it was not crowded or super loud so we could actually have solid conversations throughout our meals.

OCTOBER – DECEMBER: Just didn’t happen…

So there it is! Our Year of Brunches! I am so happy my girlfriend’s and I make the effort to schedule things like this, because it really is so important for our friendships. There’s nothing I look forward to more than quality time with my best friends, sipping mimosas, and catching up.
